In this blog I will be sharing anything under the sun or moon since Im a night owl by profession haha:) From Beauty stuff to yummy food to little knick nacks. Just anything really that would spark my interest. I am a woman who is confident and happy with what was given to me. I couldn't be luckier. I take pleasure with the simplest things in life. I am not a witter by profession but I find writing therapeutic. I am not a photographer yet I see beauty in every snapshot. I am in no way near a beauty guru, but I know the essence of self worth. Basically this is my blog, my opinions, my story, my perspective in life and everything that surrounds it and I welcome you to join me in my journey. x0x0, ER

NOTD 10-10-2011

I have spare time to add a quick post today while waiting for my favorite tv show to finish buffering. Yes I watch it through online streaming because it's not in local cable tv yet bummer'... Although I still watch reruns of prior seasons of NCIS! I love this tv show! ok I might talk more about that in another post. anyway here's my nail of the day: (excuse the messy nail polish application I'm blaming my dried out black nail polish from etude house haha)

Btw, I got the glitter polish from a local retail store. It's a generic nail polish (unbranded) cost me only 8.00 php. cool ey?

That's it for today... Have a great week everyone!

Brush Holder or Pencil Holder?

I'd like to share one good find that I got that maybe you would like as well.

I've been looking for a container to place my growing number of make-up brushes. Something that Isn't glass or porcelain since I don't want it breaking on me while doing my makeup or in an earthquake (paranoid me) lol. I didn't want it to be too wide to save some space and so that my brushes would stay upright without adding those tiny pebbles/beads that most women use in their vanity. Last Sunday, I got the chance to stop by SM for a quick errand and while browsing through the Office Supply Section looking for makeup storage, I found this:

It's actually a pencil holder made out of thick cardboard/chipboard wrapped with faux alligator skin type of material. They carry it in two designs, one was a floral black and white, but I found it too ornate for my taste and settled for this baby. here's what it looks like if I use it for my colored pencils:

It would be much easier for me to use this on my desk if I'm sketching. I've been buying art supplies lately since I'm going back to my "artistic" hobbies so I say. hehe. . .Unfortunately I only picked out one container so I'm actually planning to get another one soon.

So let me know about how you store your makeup brushes on the comments section. I'll be glad to hear from you. Dont hesitate to visit art supply stores for storage containers you'll be surprised with what you can find.

DEAL THRILL! "GOSH Duo Fibre Brush"

Introduction: DEAL THRILL will become a reoccurring title for blog posts where I write about great deals! It may be a beauty product, a fashion item, or a service that I got for less or with a discount. This will confirm that beauty and fashion doesn't always have to be expensive. Now on to the first ever Deal Thrill post. . .

I have been searching for an inexpensive good quality stippling brush. I live a plane ride away from Manila which limits my search to local malls. Thus giving me only two options; to buy the stippling brush from Etude House (the only store that sells it that i know of) or purchase one online. I wasn't really pleased with Etude House's stippling brush since I find it a bit flimsy and less dense than what I would expect a stippling brush to be. If I were to purchase online, I would have to pay additional for shipping. . .

Anyway. . .  I got lucky! I was actually roaming around the downtown area of Iloilo City when I stumbled upon a newly opened "divisoria" type store which had two stories and I wish I had taken note of its name. . . At the bottom floor the moment I walked in, I saw shelves full of (fake branded perfumes) and a lot of China brand cosmetics. But in n a little corner just as I was about to leave I spotted my very first Deal Thrill! drum roll please. . . viola!

I found a stippling brush branded "GOSH". Ok, I know I found it beside cheap makeup and in front of shelves holding fake perfumes, but . . . but. . . It's still a make up brush! I really didn't care whether its branded or not. Actually I tried searching for pictures of original GOSH make up brushes and this brush looks exactly like the real ones online. I believe this one's real! (but I will have to confirm it still) although I could sense it is of good quality and you will be utterly surprised with how ''much'' or rather less I paid for it. It's the cheapest brush that I have bought so far! . . . wait for it. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I know!. . . even until now, I cant believe i got it for this cheap! I even asked the sales assistant and she said It is 45 php (about a dollar) and I know it retails for around 12 to 13 pounds which is roughly at 804+ php at the moment.
If you have a GOSH brush does it have this on it's packaging too?

Here's How the bristles look like:

I have to say that it is quite dense which I actually like. The bristles are 50% synthetic and 50% real hair.
the bristles looked squished probably because of the packaging

I have not used this baby yet but I'm looking forward to it! hopefully it performs well. I'll be doing a thorough review on this pretty soon.

Remember: never to under estimate cheap looking stores. . . believe me there are hidden treasures inside :) but be safe! lol this isn't the first time I found good makeup brushes for cheap. But I will be talking about those in another blog post. Till then. . . take care and stay happy!

Bazaar Finds

Last Month I was able to join a bazaar at one of the major universities in my city. I have an online shop and joining these kinds of events help promote my site and my craft. It was a week long event and believe me, preparing for such an event can be exhausting. Therefore to cure my exhaustion, I did a little shopping. (me and my excuses) hehe

I purchased some of the items with my own money, but most of it was purchased by my ever supportive mom ;) so here's my loot:

I got these Items from: a fellow Ilonga online seller Allidia Co

My mom got 3 of the things on the last day of the bazaar giving her 20% off her entire purchase plus a freebie! She's such a lucky buyer. Oh well here's what I purchased prior to the SALE date.

1. COVER GIRL: Fresh Complexion Pocket Powder Foundation in 665

I got it for only 100php it was on sale

The color of the powder foundation in the Photo (right) is a little darker than it's actual shade. The color is a warm brown suitable for medium to morena skintones. I was happy to have this in my stash now since I have been looking for a dark colored powder. Plus I scored bigtime on the price that I got it for.

here's a size comparison with my elf blush and bronzer duo. Just so that you get an idea on how much product you will be getting.

I have already used the powder foundation when I shot this picture hence the dirty sponge :)

2. MAYBELLINE: Moisture Extreme in G132 Nude Blush

The lipstick is a light nude. It is sheer when applied once on the lips. So you might want to add a couple layers to get the desired tint. It's almost like a lip gloss. It glides smoothly on the lips even without applying a lipbalm. (see swatch below) priced at 175php only

Swatch on my volumptious(if i spelled that correctly) lips haha! excuse the bare imperfect face
So those were the 2 things that I spent my own money on. Now here's my Mom's Shopping treat.

3. LOREAL PARIS: Air Wear Breathable Long-Wearing Foundation SPF 14 in no. 80 Caramel

My mom got this for P250 less 20%

I found it hard to get the true color of the foundation to show in a picture. This is the best that I could get from my camera.
I havent tried this on my face yet which means there will be a future review :) I just hope that it could stand the Philippine weather.

4. HAZEL BISHOP: Eye Shadow Classics 705 Mystical Mauves

Perfect for everyday wear or a smokey look for going out at night. I cant wait to try these ones out. Although, I might just let my mom use this. I do have my 88 palette in case I need shades of purple on my eyelids. I'll be teaching her "Make-up 101" soon . . . hehe :) We'll probably share this.

This is the best way I could describe the colors:
L-R: Purple brown, lilac, light Violet, lavender. I hope I got those right. All are in Satin finishes. Mom got it for P150 less 20%. (great deal!)

5. MAYBELLINE: Color Sensational Lipstick in 545 Sweet Nectar
I actually like the packaging
Sweet Nectar is a really nice frosted red color with a slight hint of pink. ( It looks more pink in the photo at the Right)
It's more berryish' in person with a subtle hint of orange. great for someone who wants to wear red in a conservative way.
Price: P175

6. FREEBIE: LANMEI loose eyeshadow in shade no. 61

It's a nice Gun Metal Black shade (camera was on poster effect setting when this was taken hence the discoloration of my hands! lol )
I actually like this eyeshadow's pigmentation. This will be great for a smokey eye. Although you might need to use very precise hands or brush for application and remember that a little goes a long way with this baby. I think you can get a hold of a simillar product from ebay.

So That's it for my bazaar finds. I hope you like this post and expect more from my blog this month! Thank you for following my blog!

Take care pretty readers!

3 Day SALE HAUL!

HAUL time

I know. . .  i should not be spending money. but hey, its hard earned cash and i need to treat myself for being a diligent student. teehee ^,^ (thats my lame excuse) for buying stuff.

So here's a preview of what I bought:
I also got 2 pairs of jeans for only 500 pesos!

SM malls in my area had a huge 3 day sale. other malls such as Robinsons and Gaisano held their sales as well.

for a rundown of what I got I'll be showing you the pictures up close:
Celeteque 3 in one facial care pack. It has a facial wash, alcohol free toner and an oil free facial moisturizer all in one package. It cost me 150 pesos. Each bottle has 25ml of product inside. I am looking for the best products to use for my skin and Im excited to try these 3 out! :D I just hope it works.

The next item I got was:
The Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer. I am planning to use this as a makeup base/ foundation.
my shade: Honey Beige

The next product is
I got  shades of red lippies from Ever Bilena for 99php each! Just an update: They will not pull out the current Matte lipstick line nor reformulate or repackage it. after the promo period they will simply bring the prices back to 125 php. >,<

here's the lippies up close:

I also got a couple of thing from ELF since they were having a 10% off your elf purchase. I got these brushes and the elf blush and bronzer.
T-B: Foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, face brush. Original price for each is 129php it was on sale for 116php

many makeup gurus would say that these are dupes for NARS Orgasm and Laguna Bronzer. I personally could not agree nor disagree since I dont have the NARS products to compare it to.
originally 249.75 php i got it for 224.80 php

I also got 1 thing from Nichido:
The Girls Night Out blackest black eye pencil for 80php

On my way out from the mall I passed by a stall that was selling random goods and beauty products. I saw these nail polishes brand: Klik for 12php only! I said I need to grab them lol. Im not very particular w/ brand names for nail polishes at the moment so i dared to try it out.
so here are the colors that I liked:

L-R: Frosted Bronzed Platinum, Regular Capuccino, Frosted Apple Green, Regular Love

2 of which are frosted and the other 2 are cream finish.

lastly I got 2 new lip glosses from Careline:
shades no. 11 and no. 01 respectively

no.11 is more of a vintagey pink and the no.1 is more of a lavender pink or a hot pink shade.

Let me know If you want me to swatch the products and show them to you in this blog. Thank you for Reading and please do visit my other blogs linked at the side bar.

I will not shop for new items within this month. I spent a ton already and I don't like doing so. haha

But I would not promise though coz,
I love everything pretty!

Take Care!

Face Shop Nail Polish

I got these nail polishes from the Face Shop last month when I was in Bacolod. Got them from SM City Bacolod for 95 php. A little over $2 each

L-R: PP408, WH003, BL602
It is a Korean Brand. I was looking for a matte lilac and blue color and found it there. I know its a lot more expensive than the other local brands but I guess its worth a try. I got it in three colors: (however I would really love it if they labeled the shades with a certain  "name" instead of just numbers and letters.)

It comes in an 11 ml container.

The purple/lilac color has a matte to satin finish. It is not as matte as the other matte nail polishes from Etude since it has a tiny hint of gloss. same as through with the powder blue one. But I'm not really particular about that. I actually like the pastel shades with a hint of gloss.

The one in the middle is a shimmery-sheer pearl white nail polish. I usually coat it on top of a colored nail polish to give it a shimmery topcoat. you can use the WH003 alone but I guess you would need to do 2 coats of it for the shimmer to really stand out. it goes as a shimmery pearl white says the lady at the store. I haven't tried doing that yet.
The shade here looks golden because of the shimmer and the camera's flash

here's a photo of the blue one w/ a colorless topcoat from Ever Bilena:

Consistency:   well, you would definitely need two coats when you want it to show the real colors of the polish since I find it to be slightly runnier than the Caronia/Bobbie nail polishes. It is almost like a cold "fresh milk texture" (i have no other way of explaining it but through a drink. haha) It doesn't dry as quick as i would want it to be after application. So it's definitely not anything you would want to put on right before you leave the house. I hate it when i have to double coat. I end up getting my nails messed up.

Staying power: well, it goes to about 3-4 days until the nail polish chipped on the tips of my nails. And a week before I had to remove them at max. depending on what you do.

Appearance/packaging: its a 4 out of 5 since its a bit bulkier than the other ones i have. but the container itself is very cute.

I like the colors of the faceshop nail polishes and they do have a wide range of shades to choose from. however for a budget freak like me, Id rather buy a much cheaper local brand. but I'm surprised that the nail polish does not dry out easily unlike other brands. (which i will have reviews as well soon) Thats why I would still love to purchase some more.

Prettiness Rating: 4/5 :)
